My story has been shaped by the people I have met, the purpose behind every flight and the sound judgement developed over a lifetime in aviation.

The early years of my career were spent operating turbine-powered aircraft such as the DHC-6 Twin Otter across the island networks of the Seychelles, Samoa and Tonga, where flying remained closely connected to the communities it served. Progressing from first officer to captain, and gaining experience in both single-pilot and multi-crew operations, developed in me an enduring respect for preparation, aircraft performance and the quiet discipline of making sound decisions consistently. Those years taught me that airmanship is not defined by one difficult flight or one important decision. It is built gradually—sector by sector—through awareness, restraint, adaptability and responsibility for the aircraft, the crew and every person who places their trust in you.

That foundation carried naturally into international Boeing 737-800 airline operations across New Zealand, Australia, Asia and the South Pacific. Over a career encompassing thousands of hours on jet and turboprop aircraft, together with extensive command, multi-engine and instrument-flight experience, I have come to understand aviation from regional command through to complex, high-capacity airline operations. The depth of that experience is measured not simply by time in the air, but by years spent working within disciplined crews, managing changing conditions, maintaining standards under pressure and contributing calmly to safe, efficient and professional operations. My Australian ATPL, aircraft type ratings and broad international experience reflect a career shaped by sustained responsibility, continuous learning and a deep respect for the standards of professional aviation.

My current role as a Flight Safety Specialist has allowed me to view aviation from another perspective—investigating operational events, understanding how human, technical and organisational factors interact, and recognising how seemingly small decisions can influence the course of an operation. That experience has strengthened my understanding of how sound operations are built, and how easily pressures, assumptions or overlooked details can alter an outcome. It has not taken me away from flying; it has deepened the judgement I would bring back to it. I am now ready to return to the flight deck with the enthusiasm of a pilot who still values the craft, the perspective gained from a career across widely different operating environments, and the professionalism of someone who understands that every successful flight begins with the standards, decisions and discipline established long before the aircraft takes to the sky.
